Hazel (Sinclair) Rollins Obituary

On September 21, 2024 Mrs Hazel Sinclair Lewis Rollins, age 74 of Marston, NC, transitioned to be with her creator at Morrison Manor. Hazel was born January 6, 1950, in Scotland County, North Carolina to Mr. Johnny “Beaver” Brown and Mrs. Elizabeth Sinclair Hayes. Hazel was a soft spoken and reserved woman who enjoyed gardening, nature, and talking countless hours on the phone to her family and friends. Her favorite saying to all was “Tend to a little business every day and you might learn something!” For that reason, she set her mind out to accomplish anything with the reminder that God said “Be still and know that I am God…Psalms 46:10.

Hazel attended Scotland County Schools and graduated from Scotland High School in 1969, the first integrated class after the Brown vs Board of Education case. She later enlisted into the United States Army (Women’s Army Corp) from 1970 to 1974 and served 1 year in the United States Army Reserve as an EKG technician and office clerk. After her completion of military service, she returned to her hometown Marston, North Carolina where she made it her permanent home. Hazel also attended Fayetteville Technical Community College where she received a certificate in early childhood education. Mrs. Rollins also worked as a certified nursing assistant with Westminster Nursing Home and Interim Healthcare. She helped many people during her tenure in the nursing industry and finally was able to retire in 2006. Hazel later married Mr. David Rollins in 1999 until his death in 2010.

Hazel leaves to cherish her memories to her three children, Natasha Lewis Khachaturov (Arnold) of Marston, NC;  Kim Lewis Shaw (Lawrence Shaw) of Fayetteville, NC,  and John Andrew Morrison (Maria Morrison) of Oregon; five grandchildren, Keyonta RaShad Moore, Zaveon Tyrek Lewis, Cameron Jeremiah Lewis, Shanyia Latrice Shaw all of Fayetteville, NC and LaPorschia Shaw of Georgia;  three brothers, Clarence Sinclair (Kate) of Charlotte, NC; Jake Hayes, Jr. of Hamlet, NC; Jerome Hayes of Laurinburg, NC; Josh “JD” Hayes (Willie Mae) of Laurel Hill, NC;  five sisters Margaret Flowers of Jacksonville, FL; Trula Haliburton of Gibson, NC; Christine Hayes of Laurinburg, NC;  Estella Hayes of Marston, NC; Ada Cotton of Marston, NC. She also had one sister, Carrie Hayes and one brother Willie Hayes (Peggy) that preceded her in death.  She shared a special bond with her sister-cousin, Bessie Sinclair Bell of Marston, NC and special niece, Edith Flowers of Jacksonville, FL, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends that she loved.
