Dora Lee Smith, 76, of Hamlet, N.C. formerly of Wagram, N.C.,passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday August 27, 2022. Dora was born on June 7, 1946 in Robeson County. She attended school at Prospect High School and graduated from Chris Logan’s Beauty College in South Carolina. She then worked in textiles for many years and eventually became a homemaker. Dora was saved as a child, and in 1985 she rededicated her life to Jesus Christ. Dora loved going to church where she was a member of East Laurinburg Baptist, singing with her gospel group the Gateway Singers and traveling and singing with Carla and Redemption. She also enjoyed sewing, shopping, computer games, and had a special knack for fixing things around the house. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family and had a special love for all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Dora will be remembered as a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to many. Her earthly presence will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Willie and Dora Locklear; brother Ricky Locklear, and sisters Juanita Locklear and Paula Scott.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Kenneth “Kenny” Smith; sisters Betty (Donald), Linda, Pearl, and Rhonda (Cecil); brothers Billie, Marvin (Cameliana), Gerald (Regina), Larry (Linda-Pearl), and Earl (Denise); children LaDora (Jeffrey), Jannie (Chap), Willie Kevin (Amber), Jamie (Karen), Judy (Chris), Oliver “Buddy” (Roxanne), Kevin (Jessica), Ken, Nick (Megan); 25 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday September 2, 2022 at East Laurinburg Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Richard Tyson. Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
