Mr. Bernice Bobby Covington, age 86, passed away suddenly at his home on October 2, 2025. A proud Army veteran, Mr. Covington served his country with honor and carried that same spirit of dedication into every aspect of his life. He was a cherished member of the Carolina Park/Laurinburg community.His presence was a pillar of strength and kindness, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Mr. Covington leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, and community spirit that will continue to inspire.  He will be profoundly missed.  Funeral service will be held at Bright Hopewell Missinary Baptist Church in Laurinburg, NC on  Saturday October 18, 2025 at 2pm.  A burial will follow at Mathew's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church  cemetery.  A viewing will be held at McPhatter Funeral Home in Laurel Hill, NC on Friday October 17, 2025 from 1pm to 5pm.
